ALDIRARE SCHOLARSHIP

ALDIRARE SCHOLARSHIP

Rare is partnering with Aldi to form a scholarship for first and second year students who are looking for industrial placements

What does the scholarship offer?

·         £3,000 funding for each year of the degree

·         A place on Aldi’s Industrial Scholarship, with a £25,000 salary

·         The potential to join Aldi’s Area Manager graduate scheme

As well as obtaining funding for their studies, students will receive the opportunity to join Aldi’s industrial placement programme.

This scholarship is aimed at students from an ethnic minority background and who are working towards a 2.1 in their degree.

What does the industrial placement offer?

Students are first taken through the day-to-day practical tasks involved in retail – this is essential for understanding the business from the ground up.

Students then get the opportunity to shadow a Store Manager in order to understand how Aldi operates. This comes with the chance to work with an Area Manager and understand how the business is run from a regional perspective.

While on the scheme, students will learn about each area of the retail chain – including why and how stores are located, managing supply and logistics, and learning about how Aldi maintains cost efficiency.

What would be the benefit for students?

The Aldi industrial placement offers a unique opportunity for responsibility and leadership development. Students will be able to:

·         Gain first-hand experience of managing a successful retain store

·         Learn important management skills, including the confidence to lead older and more experienced people

·         Gaining unique insight into the Aldi business model, learning about how they have changed the face of the UK retail industry

The placement is brilliant for students looking to run their own business in the future, as well as those interested in retail management.

Who is eligible for the scholarship?

This scholarship is aimed at students who are:

·         From an ethnic minority background

·         In their first or second years looking to do an industrial placement

·         Working towards a 2.1 in their degree

·         Have a UK Drivers Licence (or will obtain one within 3 months of applying)
