We have added some extra sessions specifically to provide information for the Worldwide Exchange programme application process. Please see below for the list of events (this weeks events are highlighted in yellow)

This
event highlights the role of social sciences in informing
policy, particularly around devolution. It is well-known that communities,
arts, creativity and enterprise are important drivers of regeneration.
Economics must serve community aspirations (not vice versa), and it is in the
social sciences that community aspirations can be identified and communicated
This
event aims to put arts and the social sciences at the very heart of the
devolution/regeneration debate. In essence, we can decide how we want our
cities to be – what is our vision for Manchester as it approaches its third
millennium?

Please join us at this event on the 9th November 2016 to
be held at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School.
The purpose is to highlight and
demonstrate the role of Social Sciences in informing policy – particularly in
the sense that it might reflect on the devolution debate.
Stripping aside the academic jargon, what we are hoping
for is to foster a lively discussion on whether and how devolution (or whatever
form) is informed by human aspirations (for example, cultural, inclusive) other
than commercial (though, of course, constrained by commercial considerations).
We hope this event will be of interest, not only to
Economics students, but also any who are interested in the development of our
democracy and society, and I hope you will forward this e-mail on to other
appropriate subject leaders.
If you would like to attend and contribute (or
just listen) to the discussion (no prior preparation necessary) around their
vision for a future Manchester on a number of themes e.g the arts, devolution,

Our International Case
Competition gives you and three teammates the chance to work on tough business
problems. For each business problem you are presented with, you will be given
three hours to solve a challenge that mirrors the sort of work our teams do
here at KPMG. It’ll test your ability to work on real client problems to come
up with innovative and market driven solutions. It’s also a unique platform to
showcase agile thinking and prove that you’re ready to embark on a successful
business career.
How to apply
You don’t need to be studying a
particular subject to take part, but you do have to have:

An interest in business

Strong leadership and task
management skills

Composure under pressure
·
The ability to absorb a range of
information quickly, think through ideas and present solutions
·
Your team must be composed of 2
Males and 2 Females
Most of all, you must be prepared
to challenge your own thinking and to encourage others to be their best. It
takes flexibility and teamwork to come up with business solutions that are
truly innovative and refreshing.
