Thank you so much to
over four thousand students who have already taken part in the Internal Student
Survey. Your participation is
confidential and so apologies for emailing you again if you have already taken
part. Please see the information at the
bottom of the email to unsubscribe from further central emails about this
survey.
If you have not yet
taken part, we would love to hear your views about your units and course at
Manchester Metropolitan University and what we can do to improve them for
students like you. Listening and
responding to your constructive views and opinions is a key part of ensuring
quality in teaching and learning at Manchester Met.
Please
note – you cannot access the survey
through Moodle.
The
survey will take no longer than 10 minutes to complete, and you will be entered
into a draw to win an iPad!
The
survey closes at 23:59 on Friday 24 March, after which we will be in touch with
our lucky prize draw winning student.
Full details of how
your response data will be used are available when you access the survey.

The Writing Project - FREE 10 Week Course In How To Write Better English
The popular Writing Project is
now open for online registration for Term 3. It is an English language support
scheme, established to help students improve their written work and therefore
their grades and job prospects. Students can enrol at: http://www.writingproject.mmu.ac.uk/.
The Writing Project, which
starts during W/c 24th April 2017, is a free course in how to write better
English and is open to any MMU-enrolled student who would like to improve the
way they write. This term, we are also offering courses as a ‘Fast-track’ over
four and five weeks, and early evening classes.
It covers academic and
non-academic areas and will focus mainly on style, punctuation, grammatical
accuracy, organisation and how to paraphrase and summarise effectively.
It will run at Crewe and All
Saints campuses during each term and the summer. There is no formal assessment.
However, students will do exercises in writing during the weekly face-to-face
sessions and for homework (optional), and will be provided with plenty of
feedback on their writing as the course progresses.
We welcome requests to schedule
specific courses at a time when your students are free.
Students who complete 80% or
more of their Writing Project classes receive a certificate.
The Writing project is part of a wide ranging set of services offered by the Learner Development Service. We also offer an extensive programme of study skills workshops covering a wide range of topics. Please encourage your students to attend the different available workshops. International students are
welcome, but could also use the existing Coaching for Academic English course, offered

National Numeracy Challenge. Register at: www.nnchallenge.org.uk/qsmm
Manchester Met are working with National Numeracy to develop students’ confidence with numbers through the National Numeracy Challenge.
This short online Challenge will assess your current numeracy skills and then, going at your own pace, you can upskill.
It is free, supportive and student-friendly. You can end up with a transcript that demonstrates your numeracy skills; something employers and tutors would find useful.
Stop worrying about numbers and take the Challenge!
