The Warwick Summer Workshop in Economic Growth 2015 will give researchers the opportunity to learn about frontier research in the field of Economic Growth and present their own research.

Introductory Lectures

·        Oded Galor (Brown University) will provide an overview of recent developments in the field of growth and comparative development, exploring the role of geographical, institutional, cultural, and genetic factors in the observed pattern of development across the globe.

·        Stelios Michalopoulos (Brown University) An introductory lecture to ArcGIS.

Invited Sessions

·        Confirmed speakers: Paola Giuliano (UCLA), Moshe Hazan (Tel-Aviv University), James Kai-sing Kung (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology), Omer Moav (University of Warwick), Tom S Vogl (Princeton) and Nico Voigtlaender (UCLA).

Contributed Sessions


Social Programme

·        The programme provides opportunities for participants to socialise and includes dinners and trips to local places of interest including Stratford upon Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare and Warwick Castle.

Accommodation and catering

Accommodation is provided for 6 nights in halls of residence on campus, in private rooms with en-suite bathroom from Sunday 5 July - Friday 10 July (inclusive).
 
Participants will be provided with breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks during the workshop, a welcome dinner on the Sunday evening and farewell dinner on the Friday evening and three further dinners as well as the two local trips to Stratford and Warwick.

Costs

The workshop is supported financially by the Department of Economics at the University of Warwick and by CAGE. While we will not be able to cover travel costs, we will provide (at no charge) accommodation and meals.

Travel to Warwick
The University of Warwick is 4 miles (15 minutes by taxi) from Coventry Rail station and 12 miles (30 minutes by taxi) from Birmingham International Airport. More information.

How to apply
Please complete the online application form.  If you wish to present your research, please include your paper or an abstract. Preferences will be given to applications submitted prior to 17 April 2015. Applicants will be contacted shortly afterwards regarding the outcome of their application.
