AN OPPORTUNITY YOU MIGHT LIKE TO CONSIDER? Twenty A&F students did so this time last year.
by Trevor
Williamson |
Wondering
whether a career as an accountant is still the one for you?
Ever considered a career in the broader financial services sector, say, in banking, finance, investment, financial planning ? If so, why not come along to a meeting on
Thursday 19th March
at 1.00pm in room 4.08.
I will
be explaining the opportunities and implications of switching to Year 2 of
the Banking & Finance degree. As Year 1 is a common year of study with
the Accounting & Finance degree, it just takes a change in course code
for you to change the direction of your possible career.Twenty students switched last year. This is what one student (Tom Malach) has said: I can honestly say we all truly appreciate your efforts, Trevor, and I also thank you for persuading me to switch course as it has been the best decision of my life so far ! Here is another true story from Danielle Potter, a recent graduate: I was on my way to studying for a degree in accountancy at Brighton university, when I realised it wasn’t for me. I dropped out of the course and started to work as a waitress, whilst I waited to find out what I really wanted to do. It was on a visit to an MMU when I met the lecturer, Trevor Williamson, who designed the FSPM (now Banking & Finance) degree. As soon as he explained what the degree involved, I was sold. The subjects covered and the approach matched my personality – I’d be dealing with people rather than just pieces of paper. I’ve moved from the depths of despair to the best move of my life in 12 months – just the stuff of dreams ! Danielle is now employed at Handlesbanken in Manchester and is doing very well. So, come and meet me on Thursday at 1.00pm and see if a switch to Year 2 of the Banking & Finance degree is for you. The career prospects, especially in banking, financial planning and wealth management are excellent, for those with the skills, personality and commitment to study and personal development that Tom and Danielle possess. Please email me to let me know you are going to attend t.williamson@mmu.ac.uk See you Thursday ??!! Trevor |
