Free activity for staff and students at MMU
After the success of last year’s women’s only `Shake It Off` Event it will be returning in style as we work alongside Greater Sport and SportManchester to deliver more activity for women to get involved with whilst
studying or working at University.
This year the event will take place in The MMU Union.
It will see the Unions main hall being transformed into our very own fitness
studio with a twist.
MMU’s Active Lifestyle Officer Abi Dean said “We are
really looking forward to delivering another engaging afternoon of activities
to help the women of MMU discover an activity that suits them”.
With a unique twist on your old school favourites such as
hula hooping we will be bringing Hula Hoop Fitness to the Union and much more.
Abi continued to say that “Shake it off provides an opportunity to bring both
Manchester Universities together in one engaging women’s only event. With
activities ranging from Hula Hoop fitness and PiYo through to Boxercise Shake
it off is a great way for women to try something new in a female only
environment”.
Sport Development Manager Jonathan Fletcher said,
“Shake it Off last year was a great success with over 100
female participants on the day but the most pleasing aspect of the event was
the fact many participants went onto join one of our weekly classes having a
positive, lasting impact on their health and wellbeing”
The event is taking place at the Union between
11:30am - 1:30pm on Saturday 6th February.
It’s completely free for students and members of staff and there will be goodie bags for participants and freebie giveaways from event sponsors like BooHoo!
What’s Next…
After the success of last year’s follow on classes, we will
be continuing to deliver a wider women’s only offer with the introduction of
Hula Hoop fitness and the continuation of our popular Rave Fitness class
providing a safe environment for women to exercise whilst also having fun and
making friends along the way. For more information and full class list visit usonline
