CAPITA - Commercial Assistant Position - Job Specification PERMANENT FULL TIME



 
Title:                Commercial Assistant with CAPITA

Salary:             Circa £25k - £30k - Depending on experience and qualifications

Contract type:   Permanent – Full Time
 
An excellent opportunity for a positive and organised commercial assistant/
graduate has arisen to join Capita Property & Infrastructure’s business development
team. The position is to support the team across the many initiatives, bids and proposals
providing commercial support, challenge and project management assistance to business
development leads within the team.
 
Location
This is a regional role based from either Capita’s Salford or Blackburn offices, but
this is flexible. However travelling may be required to other Capita offices around the region,
including; Manchester, Blackburn, North Tyneside, Colwyn Bay as and when required.

Role and Responsibilities
             Key responsibilities of the role are to support the business development
             team across the following areas:
 
Generally
             Support the business development team across major bids and work winning opportunities
Generate bespoke professional fee proposals
Check the quality and completeness of professional fee proposals prior to submission
against agreed norms, where appropriate recommending improvement to such norms
Business development / bidding for work Provide commercial support to local management teams during
periods of commercial improvement / change
Ensure the correct level of Collateral Warranty, Professional Indemnity etc relating
to individual consultancy contracts is negotiated
Ownership and management of Capita’s commercial and legal sign off procedures
Undertake regular training to satisfy personal development criteria; including
regular refresher training on contract drafting, changes in relevant legislation and Capita
commercial protocols
Identify areas for commercial improvement in the delivery of projects / contracts
Investigate individual “ad hoc” commercial / financial problems and undertake analysis
of the financials / contractual context to propose solutions.
This may require engagement with Capita in house legal team
Promote and facilitate Capita’s corporate ethos.

Requirements (Essential)
             Accounting qualification preferable
             Experience in commercial management
             Excellent people skills
             Excellent analytical skills
             Commercial discretion when handling sensitive commercial data, or issues
             Ability to work in a fast changing environment
             Enquiring attitude to work and willingness to articulate their views in debate
             Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel
             Excellent spoken and written business communication skills
             Good relationship management skills both with colleagues and clients
             Commercial awareness and acumen
             The ability to work under direction but able to use their own initiative when
               required and  understand the limits to their discretion
             Able to plan their work and meet deadlines; prioritising key tasks and agreeing
         re-scheduled timescales or  re-allocating work where there are competing deadlines
Requirements
(Desirable
Knowledge of the consultancy, outsourcing or construction sector.        
Familiarity with understanding basic legal contracts/agreements
Knowledge of SAP
    Remuneration Package

Circa £25k - £30k -  depending on level of experience and qualifications
     37.5 hours a week
Annual Leave: subject to negotiation
