The Writing Project - Open for registration

Hello Everyone,

We are ENCOURAGING YOU to consider some of these valuable co-curricular opportunities, which might apply to you.

The Writing Project

Aimed at Home students, the very popular Writing Project is now open for registration. Improve your writing to improve your grades and enhance your employability.

This course is for any MMU-enrolled student who would like to improve the way they write at university level, although its focus is not just on academic writing. The course will focus mainly on style, punctuation, grammatical accuracy, organisation and how to paraphrase and summarise effectively. The premise is that all students can improve their English, whether you are undergraduates, postgraduates or PhD students.

Why should you join?

You can improve your assessment grades by making sure you are getting your points across clearly. You can impress future employers - good writing skills are highly valued in the workplace; a well-written job application will get you a long way

You can choose a course that suits your needs - courses are run at All Saints and Crewe. 10 and 5-week courses are available for registration through our web site now.

English Language Services for International Students (ELSIS)

Have you heard of ELSIS (English Language Services for International Students) at Manchester Met? It's free and it's for you!

You could join one or more of our three-week courses, starting in week commencing 5th October at Manchester and Cheshire. These courses focus on academic listening, writing, grammar and critical thinking skills. Bookings are being taken now (simply log onto the ELSIS moodle area to read more or visit our web site for more details).

More courses start in the week commencing 2nd November.

Do you need to have your English checked?

We at ELSIS are again conducting writing consultations where students can receive some excellent feedback on their writing. You can meet an experienced, qualified English Language Tutor to discuss some of the good points and areas for improvement in your writing (face-to-face or online only). You can have any piece of writing checked, or we can talk about how to improve any other aspect of your English language (e.g. speaking, grammar, etc).

These popular and highly-useful sessions begin in week commencing 19th October. Bookings will start in week commencing 5th October and can be made through the ELSIS Moodle area.

As this email has been sent on behalf of The Language Centre, please send any queries to Tony Picot on A.Picot@mmu.ac.uk

All the best,
Fiona & Anna
