The Institute for Fiscal Studies is holding a day of
talks on the 5 January 2018 on issues in public economics of
interest to undergraduates
in economics and related disciplines. The aim will be
to focus on the policy implications of research carried out at the
institute. If
you're a member of staff at an Institute please forward
this on to anyone that may be interested in this event.
The IFS is a research institute that provides high quality economic
analysis independent of government, political party or any other
vested interest. We look at a wide variety of public policy issues,
from productivity growth to poverty reduction, and from promoting
employment to ensuring sound public finances.
Our
focus is on careful modelling of individual, household and firm
behaviour, combining cutting-edge empirical analysis with detailed
understanding of policy practicalities. We always strive to communicate
our findings in a clear and comprehensible way.
We
have been asked to deliver similar talks at Oxford and Cambridge for
a number of years as part of their public economics programmes. The
aim of this event is to make them available to a wider audience.
Topics
covered include:
- Higher Education
Funding
- Poverty and
Inequality
- Labour Supply and
Taxation
- Early Childhood
Development Policies
- Childcare
- Pensions and
Retirement
We
will also have a special Q&A session on working at the IFS.
Best wishes,
IFS Events team
