INVITATION: FREE LECTURE: Economic Pluralism: What is it and why does it matter - Henry Leveson-Gower TUES 20th NOV 4 - 5pm, G33

Economic Pluralism: What is it and why does it matter by
Henry Leveson-Gower, CEO of Promoting Economic Pluralism

Tuesday, 20th November 2019      4 - 5 PM
G33,  MMU Business School, All Saints Campus, Manchester, M15 6BH

In this free lecture we discuss what economics pluralism is and how it justifies its position in the economics discussion.

In particular, we assess the extent to which a lack of pluralism led to ‘group think’ in standard economics and whether this was responsible for the failure to predict the 2007/08 Global Financial Crisis and the extent to which its causes have been misattributed.

We also consider to what extent does economics really impact on policy more generally and how much pluralism can add to the discussion. Ultimately, we argue good economics must be pluralist.
