VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

With a chill in the air, there is no denying that winter is here and Christmas is just around the corner. This season can be a difficult time for vulnerable groups of people, and there are loads of opportunities and events you can get involved with. This month, we're highlighting how you can support homelessness charities and the elderly.    Make a difference Charities will already be feeling the impact of the cold weather and need volunteers more than ever. We have a range of roles with charities like Barnabus and Shelter, so take a look at all our opportunities here. You can filter the types of roles to find the perfect one for you. Roles of the month: Greater Manchester Night Shelter — Volunteer Running shelters for people who would otherwise be sleeping rough, the role may include setting up, preparing food, clearing up and packing down the shelter and socialising with guests — scrabble is always popular. Manchester Cares — Social Clubs Volunteer A community network of young professionals and older neighbours hanging out and helping one another in our rapidly changing city — social clubs offer a chance for people to share time, laughter and new experiences that help everyone to feel a part of our community. Event: Get into Community Volunteering When and where: Monday 12 November, 14:00 — 15:00 Meeting room 6  A workshop to hear your ideas, find out what you're passionate about, and support you in starting up student led community projects. This is an exciting new venture for volunteering at MMU. This workshop will show you how you can get into community volunteering, become a Community Project Ambassador and even organise and run your own projects. Book your place. Can't make it?
