We’re looking to recruit a number of undergraduates with flair and motivation to join our bright futures programme, offering you a huge amount of invaluable business experience. You will have the chance to work for a world-class organisation, with world class recognisable brands in a highly exciting and fun industry.
You’ll work collaboratively with your line manager to set objectives at the beginning of the placement, which focus on business needs as well as your professional development. Your line manager will support you during your placement and will review your progress and development on a regular basis.

What’s your role?
To assist the finance team in providing support to the business covering financial reporting, financial planning, analytical support and financial control.
What can you expect?
Here are just some of the things you can expect to get involved in:
• Producing financial reports to help understand business performance
• Supporting key finance processes, for example forecasting, budgeting and financial year end
• Analytical project work including analysing certain lines of the P&L to identify actionable recommendations

Finance is at the heart of any business and this placement will provide an insight into how a finance department operates and its wider role in an organisation. You’ll build strong skills in excel and financial systems, and will play an important part in helping to deliver the finance agenda for the year. You’ll also get the chance to attend some of our fantastic corporate events to fully immerse yourself in our desirable brands. In return we’re looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, ambitious individual with great interpersonal skills.
What do we require?
Applicants must:
• Be studying a recognised sandwich undergraduate degree
• Be studying a Finance undergraduate degree, or a Business Management undergraduate degree with a strong interest in Finance
• Be on track to achieve 2:1 or above
• Have a minimum of 300 UCAS points over three subjects at A Level (or equivalent)
• Have eligibility to unrestrictedly work and live in the UK for the duration of the placement
• Be available to work for 13 months (to cover the start and end of our financial year, a key time for the Finance team!)
Placements will commence in June 2017 for successful candidates, and will be based in our West London offices in Chiswick. Current salary is £16,000 per annum, with 25 days holiday plus additional benefits.

So, what’s the job?
Each year we take on two talented students to complete their year in industry in our finance department. As Accounts Assistant you will be provided with an excellent opportunity to develop your accounts skills and technical accounting experience. You will support our client facing business teams handling travel and expense claims, reconciliation of employee expenses and assist with the making and recording of foreign payments. You will be responsible for ensuring data entry of purchase invoices, sales invoices and general ledger journals are accurate. You will also manage the maintenance of prepayments and overhead spreadsheets to produce reports for monthly accounts. Your role will support the wider finance team projects including our annual audit, following up on incoming and outgoing enquiries across the business and using various accounts software.
Ashfield are in the process of implementing a new finance system. This is an exciting and challenging time for an intern to join an evolving finance function; to support the changeover to the new system, and assist in the roll out of this new system to the wider business.
Who is the ideal candidate?
You must be achieving an average score of a 2:1 or above in your degree. You will be highly organised with a keen eye for details. A good knowledge of Excel is essential and an understanding of a finance department would be a considerable advantage. You will use your own initiative to prioritise your workload and problem solve while flagging to senior members of the team when appropriate. This role is fast paced and will involve working on different tasks with varied deadlines so a calm, methodical approach and the ability to multi task is key. Team work, energy and enthusiasm are a must!

• Use Sage 50 Accounts to create customer invoices and input monthly transactions
• Create customer quotations for annual software subscription
• Be responsible for most day to day procurement
• Responding to customer enquiries via email and telephone
• Organising internal events and creating weekly newsletters
• Managing the paper and electronic filing systems using Microsoft SharePoint
• Ensuring the offices stay clean and tidy and carrying out regular checks and risk assessments
• Receive a salary of £15,000 pa.

A reliable, resourceful and highly organized person. We are looking for someone who pays attention to detail and will work to finish a task. An interest in technology is desirable.
You should have an interest in technology and be studying a business or finance degree or similar. Success at A level English and Maths could be valuable. As you will be communicating with our Resellers and Users, excellent verbal and written skills are essential.
