Wednesday 1st February:

Futures Leadership Programme: Leading Projects & Events 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Room 3.16, Business School Building, Manchester


This session will focus on the importance of effective leadership for project and event management, and is being delivered by Paul Roberts – a founding director of Fifthday (www.fifthday.com) one of the world’s leading and most innovative project management consultancies.

Paul will discuss the nature of projects, and the importance of their effective leadership and management.

If you attend 5 sessions of the Leadership Programme, including the wrap-up session, which will be taking place in February, you will receive a certificate.

Futures Leadership Programme: Leadership & Ethics 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

This session will focus on the importance of ethics in the world of business. Using topical case studies, we will explore why ethical leadership is critical to business success and how graduate employers look for candidates to demonstrate ethical awareness in their decision-making and problem solving.

Professor Julia Clarke is Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at MMU, and prior to moving into higher education worked for one of the big four accountancy firms in Manchester where she specialised in corporate taxation. Julia is a founding member of the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Inter-Disciplinary Ethics based at the University of Leeds, and has published in the areas of corporate social reporting, business ethics and business education.

If you attend 5 sessions of the Leadership Programme, including the wrap-up session, which will be taking place in February, you will receive a certificate.

In this session you will explore the impact of gender on women's progression in leadership roles and entrepreneurship, and look at the strategies women adopt (good and bad) to navigate masculine environments. This will be an interesting and empowering session that will be relevant to both women and men!

In this session you will learn about brainstorming, ideation, thinking outside the box and creative thinking. In the process of developing as a creative leader, you need to learn to train your imagination, and conceptually blend dissimilar concepts from different contexts, leading to original ideas and insights. 

If you attend 5 sessions of the Leadership Programme, including the wrap-up session which will be taking place in February, you will receive a certificate.
